Why Scissor Haircuts are WAY BETTER than clipper haircuts

As times have changed so have the tools and methods of cutting hair. If you were to look in a museum or history book on haircutting this will become evident. In my humble opinion, in modern times in the West we have leaned towards a convienence and effiecency-centric philosphy for most modern tools. Washing machines, dish washer, microwaves, etc. have changed the old ways of doing things in a faster and arguably less efficient manner. At Hermosa Beach Men's Grooming we have respect for the old ways while also not shying from hybrid use of modern tools. We understand that clients in our chair are not all nails and we are not exclusively hammers. I personally have felt this way, in receiving service from a business. They made me feel like a nail and i was about to be hammered... HBMG can adapt our style and tools based on the wants and needs of every clients.

In short, when the head is cut by clippers, it is all uniform (granted the clippers are clean, in optimal working order, the headshape is perfect). When the hair is cut uniform and short by clippers it clashes with the non-uniform shape of the head and the non-uniform time frame at which hair grows. For certain hairstyles, i would agree that clippers are the best tool for the job, however if you're in search of a 1 of 1, bespoke haircut that looks good not just behind the chair that day, but days and weeks after it's cut, you need your hair cut by a profesional who understands the fundamentals of shear (scissor) haircuts. This allows for the stylist to play with the growth pattern (cowlicks), weight, texture, and length existing on your head, consult with what you like and don't like, and craft the perfect haircut that suits you. That said, this is a back and forth exchange and requires us (stylists) to know and analyze your lifestyle, your profession, your hobbies, to mitigate any forseeable annoyances or possible problems with your given hairstyle.

Finally, we're not claiming that scissor haircuts are inherently superior; rather, we're emphasizing that the key to delivering the best haircut for your face shape and lifestyle lies in combining tool usage with a solid understanding of head shape, various scissor cutting techniques, selective tool application, and effective client communication. This is what distinguishes a mediocre service from an exceptional one. This approach isn't for everyone, and that's perfectly fine.
